Independence Visitor Center’s 5th Annual “Battle of the Soft Pretzels”
Philadelphia, PA (September 18, 2009): On Friday, October 9, the dough will fly once again! It is sure to be a fight to the finish when the fifth annual “Battle of the Soft Pretzels” commences at the Independence Visitor Center (located at 6th & Market Streets) from noon – 2:00 p.m.
In honor of National Pretzel Month, some of the Philadelphia region’s top pretzel makers will once again come together in hopes of claiming the title of the city’s best doughy delight. Visitors will have a taste of Philly’s favorite treat, and assist in the decision-making regarding this year’s winner. Awards will be presented in three categories: Best Traditional Soft Pretzel, Best Pretzel Topping, and Most Interesting Shape.
This event is a way to celebrate the famous Philadelphia treat and showcase the top pretzel-making talent in the region. Samples of the competing pretzels will be available at the Independence Visitor Center for both visitors and locals.
This is just one of many ways that Independence Visitor Center is inviting tourists and locals to experience a piece of Philadelphia. Guests are encouraged to explore the inside of the Independence Visitor Center to learn even more about all there is to do in the city and region.
The event is free of charge and open to the public. For more information, visit www.IndependenceVisitorCenter.com .
