African American Museum in Philadelphia

The brilliance of African American history and culture comes to life at the African American Museum in Philadelphia. As the first African American Museum built by a major American city, this pioneering institution set the standard for preserving, interpreting and exhibiting the history and culture of African Americans.

Dedicated to "Celebrating the Life and Contributions of a People," the museum focuses on what is unique about the African American experience, and does so by illustrating the intimate intertwining of one people's heritage, culture, and contributions throughout the fabric of the American experience. Amazing exhibitions and exciting public programs make the African American Museum in Philadelphia a great and enjoyable destination.
