Witness the Adventures of Annie Oakley Come to Life as the Independence Visitor Center Celebrates Women’s History Month
Philadelphia, PA (February 12, 2009): Visitors and locals of all ages are invited to join the Independence Visitor Center on March 13, 2009, from 10 am to 12 pm to witness the life of Annie Oakley, reenacted by a historical interpreter. Annie will amaze and entertain attendees with tales of her shooting skills and adventures. This free event is open to the public, and questions are encouraged.
The afternoon will be filled with women’s history. Born in 1860, Annie was taught how to hunt at a young age and developed the skill quickly. As a key figure in history and as a positive female role model, Annie Oakley is sure to win the hearts of people today just as she did over 100 years ago.
The Independence Visitor Center is dedicated to providing visitors with an informative and entertaining visit to Philadelphia and the surrounding region. This event is just one of many programs offered by the Visitor Center throughout the year, implemented in order to give locals and visitors, both young and old, an informative and fulfilling stay while here in the region. Other resources include the knowledgeable and multi-lingual concierge staff at the Visitor Center, and website tools such as the ‘Especially for Teachers’ section on the Independence Visitor Center’s website that lists lesson plans, historical attractions and learning activities for students.
