Marian Anderson purchased this lovely home on a small tree-lined street in 1924. The residence was designated a historic site by Philadelphia Historical Commission in 2004. The home is filled with photos and memorabilia of the late contralto and Philadelphia treasure, Marian Anderson. The Marian Anderson Historical Society are caretakers of the museum and was founded by Ms. Anderson’s protégé, classical pianist, Blanche Burton-Lyles. We invite you to join us daily, Monday to Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or by appointment. We are located two blocks south of South Street at 762 Marian Anderson Way (Martin St.) between 19th & 20th Streets. The SEPTA line #17 stops in front of the Visitor’s Center.
