When to Come
Philadelphia offers endless possibilities for residents and visitors throughout the year.
Spring time in Philadelphia is the season to spend your days outside when the temperatures are not too hot and not too cold. Take a leisurely stroll or enjoy a picnic in one of the five open-spaced parks in Philadelphia: Franklin Square, Logan Square, Love Park, Rittenhouse Square and Washington Square. Bike along the Schuylkill River Trail, a 23-mile trail running from Center City Philadelphia to Valley Forge National Historical Park, or take a drive to Longwood Gardens and view the beautiful flowers, trees and architecture at one of the world’s premier horticultural showplaces.
If you are planning a trip in the summer, take the kids to some of the area’s best museums and attractions. Spend some time at Adventure Aquarium on the Camden Waterfront, enjoy the day visiting your favorite characters at Sesame Place or spend the afternoon visiting the animals at the Philadelphia Zoo. A Ride the Ducks tour allows guests to learn all about Philadelphia and also to spend some time on the Delaware River on a warm summer day.
The fall foliage in Philadelphia and The Countryside is a sight to be seen. Enjoy day trips to the nearby counties to discover the beautiful countryside. Learn about the Amish lifestyle in Lancaster County, enjoy a wine tour along the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail or spend the day visiting the 3,600 acre Valley Forge National Historical Park.
Winter, and every season, is the time to visit Philadelphia’s Parkway District, home to many nationally renowned museums. Spend some time at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Academy of Natural Sciences, Please Touch Museum, the Rodin Museum, the Franklin Institute and the Free Library of Philadelphia. You can also take in a theater, film or musical show at one of the prestigious venues located along the Avenue of the Arts.
Whatever the season, a Philadelphia getaway is an experience to remember.
